To promote policies, programmes, practices and procedures for individuals with disabilities and to empower the disabled community to achieve equality, independence and economic self sufficiency.

- The ratification of our policy statement
- Fostering and strengthening relationships with district councils, member organizations, community development officers, community health aids
- Ongoing public awareness campaigns through schools, churches, clubs, etc.
- Providing mobility aides to the needy
- Developing partnerships with local, regional and international organizations and businesses
- Increasing fundraising efforts
- Forming workshop support groups to discuss various issues

The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities, known then as The National Council of the Disabled was established in 1981. The need for an organization that served the differently abled population of St. Lucia came about large due to the efforts of four individuals, namely, Anthony Avril, Matthew St.Paul, Felix Eudovic and Catherine Roberts. Since then the NCPD has been established as the umbrella body for all organizations focusing on the needs of disabled persons within St. Lucia. The NCPD focuses on advocating for differently abled persons, providing training and educational opportunities to further the growth of these individuals and to provide support for those in need.
